The current pandemic has proven to be one of the most interesting international crises, any of us have been through. Older generations had to ration, struggle and fight to survive, we have the privilege of staying home...
Even though we should count ourselves lucky, I know some of us are feeling a bit dead inside, feeling our social knowledge slowly slipping away. So, are you feeling bored? Do you have sudden adrenaline going through your veins, the ever going desire to actually do something with your life? Good. Me neither. Here are some of the top series you could be binge-watching during lockdown!
(Just a small disclaimer, I do apologize if you can’t find any of these, as I am in Vienna and I’m just listing the series I have access to. So keeping that in mind I hope you enjoy and make sure if you have any other suggestions put them in the comments below! )
The Haunting of Hill House
Like a good horror story? I know I do. This modern re-imagining of the Shirley Jackson novel follows siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country...
Now adults, they are forced back together in the face of tragedy and must finally confront the ghosts of their past. Some of those ghosts still lurk in their minds, while others may actually be stalking the shadows of Hill House.

Afterlife
Ricky Gervais' dark comedy had viewers - especially me - laughing and crying at the first 3 episodes and despite needing a few issues, it was a joy to watch.
As we watch widow Tony coming to terms with life after losing a loved one, we slowly understand what he is going through and more about the people around him. (13+ Netflix)
Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness
This phenomenally successful docu-series about tiger owners in the US has barged its way into pop culture and our hearts.
Millions of Netflix subscribers have watched the bitter years-running feud between eccentric big cat conservationists Joe Exotic and Carol Baskin, and the private zoos and sanctuaries they have set up for their unusual and deadly animals. (13+ Netflix)
Killing Eve
The new series of this popular spy-action thriller returned earlier this month, and if you haven't already watched it, there's plenty of time to do so. The programme follows Eve Polastri, a British intelligence investigator tasked with capturing psychopathic assassin Villanelle. As the chase progresses, the two develop a mutual obsession.
This tense, on-screen game of cat and mouse is perfect for those long days in lockdown, with episodes available on BBC iPlayer and the recommended age is 14+.
Friday Night Dinner
As the new series of the quirky comedy series is currently airing on television every Friday, viewers who are yet to watch a single episode are able to catch up on Netflix or All 4.
With eccentric characters and wonderfully British humor, each episode flies by as you watch the wacky, weekly dinner of the Goodman family.
As many families are cooped up together in the same house, this show allows viewers to laugh at the bizarre behavior of those living around them through a familiar lens. (10+ BBC)
Stranger Things
Yes, I may be a bit obsessed with this series but I am definitely not the only one. This creepy science fiction television series has captivated viewers from the beginning, with an addictive narrative serving as a throwback to the 1980s films of Steven Spielberg.
With supernatural themes and tension-filled scenes, Stranger Things is enjoyable for almost all the family and will keep viewers guessing from the start.
(12+ Netflix.)
Game of Thrones
Has there ever been a more binge-worthy show than Game of Thrones? Over the course of its eight seasons between 2011 and 2019, the show grew into a cultural phenomenon.
Despite the ending being detestably terrible, everything else has never failed to impress, and it is for sure one of my favorite shows of all time. (14+ Austrian Netflix)
Breaking Bad
Many people claim Breaking Bad is the best TV show of all time. Making it a shoo-in for our list of the best shows to binge-watch.

Money Heist
On top of everyone list, Money Heist is something you just can't miss. We all have a certain craze to create a name for ourselves. But some of us can go a little overboard. A criminal mastermind who goes over and beyond. The Professor has a plan to pull off the biggest heist in recorded history - to print billions of euros in the Royal Mint of Spain.
He recruits eight people with specific abilities, who have nothing to lose to take hostages to aid in their negotiations with the authorities. With every passing minute, the thieves and the authorities prepare for a showdown. (15+ Netflix)
The Zodiac
In this film based on actual events, the quiet community of Vallejo, Calif, is rocked by the random shooting deaths of two teenagers. Inspector Matt Parish is assigned to the case.
But, since there's little evidence to go on, his investigation hits a dead end, and his growing frustration takes a toll on his wife and son, but when the killer, now known as as the Zodiac, strikes again, Matt becomes obsessed with catching him. (15+ Netflix)
Full house / Fuller house
Danny is a widower who is raising his three little girls after the death of his wife. But he has help from his musician brother-in-law, Jesse Katsopolis, and his best friend, comedian Joey Gladstone.
The second part to this hilarious show “fuller house” is nearly as good and can also be found on Netflix. (6+ Netflix)
